Six high school and college students chose to engage living an intentional life for six to eight weeks. Music was the tool to facilitate that process.
Weeks 1-3
Students planned breakfast and lunch, working off of a budget.
Students spent time in their spiritual life.
Students worked out every day.
Students practiced and rehearsed for 6-8 hours, Monday through Friday.
Students learned to write music using scripture.
Students were the worship team for a small church, Project Phoenix.
Weeks 4-6
Students travelled over a 1000 miles, providing over 20 concerts.
Students ” tried ” to facilitate living an intentional life on the road.
Students performed in Portland, Bend, Tumalo, Walla Walla, College Place, Millton-Freewater, Boise, Eagle, Mt. Vernon, Burlington, Rosario, Anacortes and Hillsboro.
Weeks 7-8
Three students decided to engage in advanced studies. They each had an hour lesson pertaining to their instrument, daily. They practiced 3-5 hours a day to prepare for their next lesson. They taught their peers what they were learning.
They travelled to Southern California to attend 8 hours of advanced music performance at The Baked Potato…a world renowned jazz club catering to all ages.
They ate baked potatoes.
They toured the Musicians Institute in Hollywood.
They spent time with professional musicians, Jeff Olson and Kurtis Lamberton, interviewing them on expectations and opportunities in the music field.
Week 9
Kevin slept.
Week 10
Kevin started planning for next year.
